Nate Welch
I've known Nate about as long as I've known anybody in Omaha, with the exception of Marshall, who really doesn't count as we sort of... stopped being friends in 7th grade.
I just, started thinking about him a little bit ago, and, I realized, I'm not going to see him for more than 2 years, I'll count myself lucky if I can pry his e-mail address out of his family. I haven't seen eye to eye with the Welches for... years, lets leave it at that.
Nate's one of the best people I know, intelligent, funny, talented and perhaps an even bigger cryer than Molly.
The fact that he could be who he was, growing up with the house-hold that he did... he was so strong spiritually, strong enough to devote these 2 years of his life to his religion. But even then he was not ruled by his religion like so many Mormons are.
I'm proud to have been a part in his shaping, and I am better for knowing him.
Gone, just like that, the day he left not even a feeling that something wasn't right.
I'm not very good at regret, not at all, and I usually manage to repress it or dodge it, but this is something that should be regretted.
I'm not going to see one of my oldest friends for two years, I'm not going to talk to him, or chat with him on IM or e-mail him. And I didn't remember to say goodbye.
I'm not a selfish person, but I can't help but feel a little selfish after that.
A toast to Nate, who was truly no one but himself.

Donnie Darko quotes!

"Why do you wear that silly bunny suit?"
"Why are you wearing that silly man suit?"

"A linguist once said that of all of the words in the english language, of all of the infinite combinations, that cellar door was the most beautiful."

"I hope when the world ends I will be able to breathe a sigh of relief, because there will be so much to look forward to."

"I guess some people are just born with tragedy in their blood."

What a great movie, we all need to watch it again when I'm back in town, sans all the talking that happened last time when we tried to watch it at Steve's. Heh.

Things have been moving along at a pretty steady pace since I got back. There really hasn't been much to report honestly. I was just watching that and I wanted to put up some of the quotes before I forgot them.
